Egypt is a large country in northern Africa with a population of over 99 million. Most of Egypt’s landscape is dominated by deserts. Egypt is rich in history and is home to famous places and landmarks like the Pyramids of Giza, Alexandria, Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. The Nile is the longest river in the world. Egypt is home to a wide variety of animals and plants, including jackals, gazelles, crocodiles, and cobras. The Egyptian dishes mainly consist of vegetables and fruits such as tomatoes, beans zucchini, eggplants, okra, grapes and dates as well as spices such as cumin, garlic and coriander. Meat is very expensive, thus vegetarian dishes are very common. Pita bread is served with all meals. In coastal regions and the Nile valley, fish and seafood are also available.
